After redesigning my logo and having a general spring clean and spruce up of my website, I thought it high time to re-introduce myself and tell you a little about me.
I'm Beckie, owner of Beckie Jordan Photography and I live and work in Cardiff. I've always had an interest in photography but 2008 was when my interest became more of a passion. I'd undertaken an intro to photography course via Ffotogallery at Chapter Arts Centre and discovered that this was the one hobby I could definitely stick with. Since then I've tried various forms of photography both digital, analogue and experimental. I've also amassed quite a few vintage cameras for collection and use.
In 2015 after being made redundant from two different jobs, I decided to try and make my hobby one that paid. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do, but I had absolutely no clue how to go about setting up my own business. Luckily I stumbled upon a series of free business courses called "Taking the Plunge" for start-ups funded by Welsh Government and delivered by Business in Focus. These courses were invaluable in helping me create a workable business plan, how to manage income and expenditure and tips on marketing and promotion.
The help I received from Business in Focus really gave me the drive and confidence to move forward with my business. Focusing on commercial and event photography, over the past two years I've been able to work with some fantastic clients and organisations, travel to some beautiful parts of the country and receive consistently good testimonials. I love nothing more than working out and about, meeting interesting people and documenting events for clients.
I balance the paid work with personal projects; particularly travel photography, visiting places such as Nepal, Cambodia and Morocco. I've been lucky enough to have my images featured in a few places such as Artnet News. I'm inspired by everything the world has to offer, even the more difficult and hard to stomach. My plan is travel more, photograph more and keep learning and growing as a photographer. I'd love my own studio space so the five-year plan is to have my very own studio to branch out into other areas of photography.
Hopefully, this little re-introduction will give you a better insight into who I am. If you'd like to contact me then please click HERE to use the contact form. I'll be updating this blog with more interesting content, behind the scenes pics on jobs and personal project updates.
Hope to see you again soon.
